Pat O'Malley

Pat O'Malley, Bucknell Rider

Pat is a recent graduate of Bucknell University, graduating this past spring with the class of 2007. During his four years at Bucknell, Pat found himself involved with almost every facet of life at Bucknell. He held multiple roles within his fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon, including Chapter President, Recruitment Chairman and Philanthropy Chairman. He was also a dedicated member of the Orientation staff, serving as an Orientation Leader. Among other clubs and honors groups, Pat was the founder and captain of Bucknell’s Club Tennis team and participated in every intramural sport Bucknell had to offer.

This coming fall Pat has accepted a job in Washington, DC with Price Waterhouse Coopers in the audit division. His start date was set for mid-September, however after speaking to Frank Arentowicz and Dr. McConnell about the Alumni Bike Race he opted to postpone his start date until October in order to ride for Bucknell. When Price Waterhouse Coopers heard of the plans and purpose for the Alumni Bike Race they willingly pushed his start date.

Pat grew up in Springfield, MA and has been a very active runner ever since his high school. In high school Pat participated in five sports and used running to stay in shape between seasons. Over the past couple years, Pat has raced in a number of triathlons, including a half-ironman last summer.

The most enticing aspect of the Alumni Bike Race for Pat is to help the team raise money for scholarship at Bucknell. As a student coming from a single parent household, it was Bucknell scholarship and financial aid that allowed Pat to attend the school he fell in love with immediately. Pat feels that he owes a great deal to Bucknell in so many ways, and this race is a way for him to return the favor.
