Ed Zolla, PENN Tribute Rider
The Bucknell-Penn Alumni Bike Race across America for Scholarship is being done in tribute to Ed Zolla, graduate of the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. Ed had planned to make this ride in support of scholarship for both Penn and Bucknell.
Unfortunately, Ed passed away unexpectedly on September 2, 2006. Ed’s spouse of 35 years, Susan Penecale Zolla, is a member of Bucknell’s Class of 1968. Ed and Susan’s three daughters, Alissa, Mimi and Anne, all cheer on the riders of this team! Bruce Lederman was a partner of Ed’s for many years. Full Bio.

Frank Arentowicz, Bucknell Rider
Frank Arentowicz is a member of the Board of Trustees of Bucknell University and a 1969 graduate of Bucknell. His 60th birthday present to Bucknell is to raise money for scholarship for Bucknell students. Frank's 60th birthday will occur during the ride on September 24th.

Bruce Lederman, PENN Rider
Bruce received a B.S. in Economics, cum laude, from Penn (Wharton 1964). He attended the London School of Economics where he studied Economics from 1962 to 1963. He obtained his law degree, cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1967 and was a law clerk to the Honorable Irving Hill, a U.S. District Court Judge for the Central District of California, from 1968 to 1969.
Bruce has biked more than 20,000 miles over the last 12 years in the Santa Monica Mountains with Ed Zolla, in whose honor this ride is being undertaken, and with Frank Arentowicz, a fellow biker in this race.
Bruce has been married for 27 years to Ellie Lederman, and they have three sons: Eric, who just graduated from Penn, Jeffrey, a recent Colby graduate, and Josh, who is entering his third year at Yale. Full Bio.

Walter McConnell, M.D., Bucknell Rider
Dr. Walter McConnell is a 1953 graduate of Bucknell University. Walt recently celebrated 54 years of marriage to Isabel Lorraine Beers whom he met in their first week at Bucknell. After graduation he served 2 years in the United States Navy during the Korean War. In 1959 he graduated from Thomas Jefferson Medical College. He spent the next 41 years practicing medicine in Morris County, New Jersey. In addition to biking, he has completed over 25 marathons and over 700 other races throughout the world including 4 world Masters Championships. Walt has traveled extensively to 110 countries and has been to 27,000 feet on Mt. Everest at age 58. Walt and Izzy are current residents of Lake George, NY.

Mike Shockro, PENN Rider
Mike Shockro is a graduate of Stanford University and Columbia Law School. He is a honorary Penn Rider. Mike is considered one of the top information technology lawyers in the U.S. Mike is retired from being the chair of Latham & Watkins global Technology Transactions Practice Group in Los Angeles. Mike and Bruce Lederman worked together at Latham & Watkins for 31 years.
Mike is now a professor in the Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology at UCLA. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Pasadena Symphony Association.

Pat O'Malley, Bucknell RiderPat O’Malley is a Bucknell 2007 graduate with a degree in Accounting. Pat was a member and President of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. Ted Lansky, PENN Rider
Ted graduated from Penn in 1964. He was an "All-American" undefeated wrestler for Penn. Ted has been married to his wife Linda for over 40 years. He has three children: Louise and Bart, who are both lawyers and graduates of Penn, and Becky, a graduate of Grinnell College. Becky currently attends University of New England Osteopathic School of Medicine.

Murray Zucker, PENN RiderMurray graduated from Penn in 1967. After graduation he attended medical school at the University of Rochester. He then finished his residency in psychiatry at UCLA, was on the clinical faculty, and was Director of Psychiatry at Northridge Hospital ,where he founded the Eating Disorder Program. Murray has been very fortunate to be married to his beautiful and gracious wife Roberta. Their son David, now 20, is a junior at Brandeis University and pre-med. His two older daughters are Timna, 39 and a mother of three with a Masters degree in Education, and living in Chapel Hill, NC, and Jessica, 35, living in Los Angeles and has just finished her PhD. in psychology after getting a Masters in Public Health and then a Masters in Women’s Education.

Jay Kosa, Historian Bucknell Rider
Jay Kosa was born and raised in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He is a recent graduate of Bucknell where he received a bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in Legal Studies. He, along with riders Kyle and Pat, became a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity where he served as Academic Chairman and Peer Advisor. As part of his college education, Jay traveled abroad to study at the University of Otago on New Zealand’s South Island. While in New Zealand, Jay pursued his love of outdoor adventure by studying marine ecology and by hiking, climbing, and kayaking.
Back at beautiful Lewisburg, Jay spent his free time playing intramural and club volleyball and volunteering with Kyle at the YMCA youth basketball program. While at Bucknell Jay was twice awarded the President’s Award for Academic Achievement and was the recipient of a Men’s Prize for Literature. He graduated with Suma Cum Laude Honors and is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honors Society.
Currently Jay resides in a house in Washington, DC with four close friends, including Pat and Kyle, and their dog, Gracie. He has aspirations of being a writer and plans on finding employment in Washington upon his return from the race.
