The Bucknell – Penn Alumni Bike Race Across America for Scholarship
is a fund raising effort to solicit Bucknell and Penn alumni, students, parents,
friends of Bucknell and Penn and friends of the riders and virtual riders to
give to a scholarship fund for students who would otherwise be unable to afford an university education at Bucknell and Penn.
The goal of each alumni riding team is to raise $1 million in donations and
pledges for scholarship.
Four Bucknell alumni bike riders, Dr. Walter McConnell, Class of 1953,
Frank Arentowicz, Class of 1969, Pat O'Malley, Class of 2007, and Kyle Rosendall, Class of 2007, will participate in the entire coast to coast
ride.
Three riders will represent the University of Pennsylvania. They are Bruce Lederman, Class of 1964, Ted Lansky, Class of 1964, and Mike Shockro (Stanford Class of 1964).
The ride is being done by these riders to encourage other individuals to be riders along the way or virtual riders. A “rider” is anyone who commits to give to the scholarship fund and/or agrees to solicit other individuals to
give to the scholarship funds of either university.
